B.C. has found 289 new COVID-19 cases today, including 35 in Interior Health.
Elsewhere, there were 176 new cases in Fraser Health, 70 in Vancouver Coastal Health, four in Northern Health, three in Island Health, and one in a person who lives outside of B.C.
There was also one new death reported today from the virus.
Hospitalizations are up slightly today, to 301, compared to 292 yesterday. The number of patients in intensive care is down to 93, compared to 97 yesterday.
Active cases have also dropped, to 3,782, which is 171 fewer than Monday.
Meanwhile, B.C. is approaching three million vaccine doses being administered. As of today, 2,927,487 doses have been administered to almost 2.8 million people.
“This means 64.6 per cent of all adults have received their first dose, or 59.8 per cent of those 12 and older,” a joint statement says from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix.
This update comes as the province has lifted circuit-breaker restrictions that were announced almost two months, meaning indoor dining in groups of up to six people can once again happen and low-intensity indoor fitness classes can resume. The government has extended non-essential travel restrictions until at least June 15.
Under the province’s restart roadmap unveiled today, the majority of COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted or eased on July 1, so long as daily new cases remain low, hospitalizations drop and vaccination rates continue to climb, according to health officials.
