Interior Health has scheduled second-dose vaccine clinics for more than 30 rural communities in the region.
Those mobile clinics will be held over the next seven weeks, and will be held in communities including Ashcroft, Barriere, Chase, Clearwater, Clinton, Logan Lake and Lytton.
A full list of mobile clinic dates and locations, provided by the health authority, can be found here.
Many age cohorts are also now being notified to book second-dose appointments. And IH says second-dose clinics are also “well underway” in long-term care homes and Indigenous communities.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says our communities are much better protected now against the virus, but says we’re not there yet.
“A second dose is necessary to maximize our protection, and for the maximum amount of time. And this is very good news for all of us that we’re heading down that road.”
As of May 31, 69.7 per cent of people 18 and older in B.C. have gotten a first vaccine dose. But only four per cent have gotten dose two so far.
