Kamloops RCMP say a man is back in jail after an armed confrontation with police on Wednesday.
Spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn says police were told that a federal warrant had been issued for a man whose parole had been suspended after he failed to comply with conditions.
“Police located the man on the 600-block of Brandon Avenue and informed him he was under arrest. The man was allegedly uncooperative and refused to drop a knife he was holding,” Evelyn said, in a statement. “When negotiations failed, officers deployed a conductive energy device [a taser] several times, but its impact was ineffective.”
“A frontline officer was able to knock the knife away from the man, allowing for his safe arrest.”
A Kamloops man, James Bradbury, 40, was taken to hospital for a medical assessment. He was then taken to the Kamloops Regional Corrections Centre.
