Homes are being evacuated near the community of Pavilion, north of Lillooet, because of a wildfire that has quickly grown to 5,000 hectares.
The McKay Creek fire broke out late Tuesday afternoon and a large plume of smoke could be seen from a huge area.
About 34 properties along part of West Pavilion Road have been placed on evacuation order this evening, according to the Squamish-Lillooet Regional District. The SLRD says the fire is burning near the 32-kilometre mark of that road.
Full details on the evacuation order can be found here.
The wildfire is believed to have been human caused.
