Kamloops firefighters made quick work of a flare up at the site of the Juniper east Fire that was officially declared out on Tuesday.
“There was a small stump that flared up in the burnt perimeter of the East Kamloops Fire,” Fire Chief Steve Robinson told NL News. “Kamloops Fire rescue crews have actioned that and have patrolled the area and we will maintain a presence on site overnight again out of an abundance of caution.”
“That is the only area that we are concerned about at that site.”
While there was a little bit of smoke seen, there’s been a lot of dust and ash that was kicked up because of the winds which has been gusting at speeds of 52 km/hr this afternoon.
Several callers to the NL Newsroom said the dust and ash in the air made it hard to be outside.
There have also been reports of lightning strikes in parts of the area, particularly to the north of Kamloops.
