The Celebration of Life for Kamloops Blazers President and Chief Operating Officer, Don Moores, is set for 1 p.m. this afternoon from the Sandman Centre.
Among those in attendance will be country music singer, Gord Bamford, who will be performing.
“I’m proud to say he became a good friend. We had a lot of talks about life. I felt honoured to get to know him better. I’m just glad to be a part of it,” Bamford told NL Sports.
“These things always seem to happen to the good guys. It’s a reminder to get out and live your life, and take nothing for granted.”
Don’s wife Sandy is expected to lead the introduction this afternoon. Several friends will also be share memories, while Blazers majority owner Tom Gaglardi is also scheduled to speak.
Under current COVID restrictions, the Sandman Centre has a capacity of 2,500 people.
Moores died June 30 of a heart attack while golfing. He was 65.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundations PH Clinic in honour of Moores’ granddaughter, Talitha.
