
COVID-19 cases in British Columbia continue to increase with the province reporting 204 cases today, 107 of which were in Interior Health.
There were another 58 cases in Fraser Health, 23 in Vancouver Coastal Health, 14 in Island Health, and two in Northern Health.
Active cases are back into four-digits at 1,055 with 600 of those cases in Interior Health alone. The other 455 active cases are spread out across the province. There are now 51 people in hospital with the virus, 20 in intensive care.
“Note that the numbers of new cases are provisional due to a delayed data refresh and will be verified once confirmed,” the province said, in a statement.
No new deaths were reported today, with the death toll remaining at 1,771 people.
Yesterday, a COVID outbreak was declared in the Central Okanagan because of a spike in cases. New restrictions, including mandatory masks, came into effect at midnight.
There are now 81 per cent of eligible people over the age of 12 who have gotten one dose of a COVID vaccine, while 64.1 per cent are fully vaccinated.
The province says since the COVID-19 vaccine rollout began, it has administered 6,732,309 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and AstraZeneca vaccines.
