The massive Flat Lake wildfire in the southern Cariboo has forced 125 new evacuation orders northwest of Clinton.
Many of the homes affected by the new order were put on evacuation alert just yesterday. The order affects parts of Big Bar Road, Dog Creek Road, Lake Drive, Little Big Bar Road, Marriot Road, Meadow Lake Road and Sharptail Road, and a full list of the new order can be found here.
The Flat Lake fire is estimated at 39,854 hectares, although no size update has been provided for almost 24 hours. The fire was believed to have been caused by lightning when it started on July 8.
There are now 369 properties evacuated because of the fire, while well over 4,000 other properties are on alert, including 70 Mile House, Lone Butte, Sheridan Lake and the District of 100 Mile House.
