Kamloops hockey product Riley Nash will be staying in Canada after he signed a one year, $750,000 contract with the Winnipeg Jets.
Nash, 32, played 37 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2020-21 season where he recorded seven points (two goals, five assists) before missing some time due to injury.
He returned to play two playoff games for the Toronto Maple Leafs after he was traded there on April 9 for a conditional seventh-round selection in the 2022 draft.
“[Toronto] was an awesome experience. I wouldn’t trade it for anything, but it was definitely a challenge,” Nash told NL Sports in June.
Born in Consort, Alta, Nash played his minor hockey in Kamloops. He is coming off a three-year, $8.25 million contract signed with the Blue Jackets in 2018.
A former first round pick of the Edmonton Oilers in 2007, Nash has played 578 games over 10 NHL seasons for Columbus, the Boston Bruins, and the Carolina Hurricanes.
In that time, he’s recorded 172 career points (63 goals, 109 assists) along with eight points (2 goals, 6 assists) in 34 career playoff games.

#Kamloops product is headed to WPG @rileynash20. He talked about potentially playing in Western Canada. Jets get a reliable bottom-six guy at a great bargain. Interesting it’s a one-year deal. https://t.co/fPMMfJqUvr
