The Trans-Canada Highway is now partially back open heading westbound in Kamloops after the cab of a semi-truck caught fire.
The fire was first reported at about 6 p.m. near the exit to Copperhead Drive, with black smoke soon being visible for those close enough to the scene, amid heavy wildfire smoke.
A number of witness photos show the cab of a truck burned to its rims and part of the trailer burned as well. The truck involved belongs to Kamloops-based Apps Cargo Terminals.
Reports say the truck driver was the only person in the vehicle when the fire happened, and his condition is not known.
As of 6:55 p.m., the Trans-Canada Highway is partially back open westbound near the crash, according to Argo Roads and Maintenance. It says only the right lane is still closed, which is closest to the fire scene.
