A grassfire next to Columbia Street
Kamloops Fire Rescue says a landscape fire on one of the city’s main routes has been put out.
The fire next to Columbia Street was reported at about 4 p.m., just west of 1st Avenue next to the eastbound lanes. NL News reporter Victor Kaisar says Kamloops Fire Rescue had put the fire out and left the scene by 4:20 p.m.
Photos from the scene show the blaze grew to be about 20 feet long and 10 feet wide. It was burning between the road and a retaining wall.
Traffic was slowed up with fire crews on scene but was only briefly stopped in both directions, at around 4 p.m.
There’s no word on what might’ve caused the fire. The temperature in Kamloops was 36 degrees Celsius with low humidity when it broke out.
No visible flames at 1st and Columbia in #Kamloops but you can see where it would have been.
