
B.C. health officials are reporting 677 new COVID-19 cases today, including 153 in Interior Health.
Fraser Health reported the most new cases at 237, with 1,948 of those cases active, also the most in any one health authority in the province.
Interior Health was second with 1,583 active cases, down by 35 from Monday’s update.
Across the province, there are 6,165 active cases of COVID-19 – an increase of 340 from yesterday – with 288 people in hospital (+10) and 140 of those in intensive care (+1).
Vancouver Coastal Health reported 102 new cases (1,030 active) with 99 in Northern Health (964 active), and 86 in Island Health (627 active). There were also no new cases in people who live outside of Canada with 13 of these cases still active.
There was one new death reported in Northern Health taking the provincial death toll to 1,866 people.
An outbreak at the Kamloops Seniors Village long-term care home remains at 19 cases – ten among residents and nine among staff, with one death connected to the outbreak.
Similarly, an outbreak at The Hamlets at Westsyde remains at five cases – three residents and two staff, while there are seven cases at the Nicola Meadows assisted living facility – four residents and three staff, with one death connected.
Data from the province shows there are now 86 per cent of people over the age of 12 (3,985,159) have gotten one dose of a COVID vaccine, while 78.5 per cent (3,638,404) are fully vaccinated.
