There was a big show of support for healthcare workers at Royal Inland Hospital Wednesday night as first responders drove past with lights flashing and sirens blaring.
The parade got underway near the Kamloops Law Courts around 7:30 p.m., as fire trucks, police cruisers, and ambulances headed west on Columbia Street before turning towards the hospital. Also involved were Kamloops Search and Rescue crews, Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement officers, and BC Sheriff deputies.
“Pretty awesome to experience this first hand, and nice to see so many smiles tonight,” Amanda McKichan, wrote on twitter. “Thank you healthcare workers and first responders for all that you do.”
The parade comes three weeks after anti-vaxxers protested outside the hospital while inside staff have been dealing with surging COVID case counts and burnout.
There have also been smaller rallies outside the hospital this month in support of healthcare workers.
