Kamloops Mounties intercepted a large amount of drugs, including fentanyl, while arresting two people at a gas station early Wednesday morning.
The RCMP Targeted Enforcement Unit were called to a gas station on Versatile Drive at 2:30 a.m. yesterday where a man and woman were arrested, who were tied to drug dealing.
Mounties also seized 365 grams of fentanyl – which is enough for potentially several dozen overdoses – while also seizing smaller amounts of what is believed to be crack, cocaine and meth. Cash was also seized.
Inspector Jeff Pelley says police are continuing to target drug dealers, and especially those dealing toxic fentanyl.
“The impact and removal of this illicit drug will have a positive community impact, preventing potential overdoses,” Pelley says.
The man arrested has now been released while the woman was held in custody because of other arrest warrants. Police have to release suspects if no charges are laid within 24 hours, although Mounties say they are continuing to investigate.
