A CP Rail train carrying grain has derailed north of Lytton today.
The derailment happened on a CN rail line, and CN says early reports say five grain hopper cars went off the track about 8 eight kilometres north of Lytton.
CN says the train was not carrying dangerous goods and says there’s no danger to public safety. A cause of the derailment is also being investigated.
The rail line remains closed going northbound at the site of the accident.
“CN would like to apologize for the inconvenience this has caused,” the corporation says in a statement.
It’s unclear if any contents of the train cars spilled in the Thompson River, down the embankment from the rail line.
