
Interior Health says the COVID-19 outbreak at Kamloops Seniors Village has been declared over.
In total, there have been 20 cases connected to the Aberdeen facility – 10 residents and 10 staff, with one death. That is up from 19 total cases in the last update on Wednesday, Sept. 29.
There are also two deaths being reported at the Overlander Residential Care where the outbreak has grown to 22 total cases – 16 residents and six staff members. That is up from 20 cases and no deaths on Wednesday.
An outbreak at The Hamlets at Westsyde remains at six cases – three residents and three staff – while an outbreak at on unit 6 North at Royal Inland Hospital remains at two patient cases.
Friday, the province reported another 714 new cases of COVID-19, 205 of which were in Interior Health.
There are 6,317 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C., 1,360 of which are in Interior Health. There are 328 in hospital with the virus, with 138 of those in intensive care.
Fraser Health reported 274 cases (2,353 active), with 106 in Northern Health (1,043 active), 73 in Vancouver Coastal Health (889 active), and 56 in Island Health (614 active). There were no new cases in people who live outside of Canada with 58 such cases active.
There have also been 11 new deaths reported on Friday – six in the Interior, four in Fraser Health, and one in Vancouver Coastal Health – taking the provincial total to 1,973 people.
As for vaccines, 88 per cent of eligible people over the age of 12 (4,079,918) have gotten one dose of the vaccine, while 81.1. per cent (3,761,048) are fully vaccinated.
Data shows that between Sept. 23 and 29, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 71.3 per cent of all cases in B.C., while between Sept. 15 and 29, they accounted for 80.8 per cent of all hospitalizations.
