Mounties say one person has died after a collision this morning near Tappen on the Trans-Canada Highway.
BC Highway Patrol says Salmon Arm RCMP were called to the scene at about 7 a.m., and say the accident involved two vehicles. The cause of the accident is not yet known.
Police say one of the drivers involved died at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle suffered injuries believed to be non-life-threatening, and further details are unclear. There was only one person in each vehicle.
The BC Coroners Service and BC Highway Patrol crews based out of Revelstoke are now investigating.
Meanwhile, Highway 1 remains shut down this hour in Tappen, and Mounties say it will likely be closed for several more hours while evidence is gathered. Drivers travelling between Kamloops the Salmon Arm area are asked to detour through Vernon.
