
Another 605 people have tested positive for COVID-19 while another four have died of the virus, according to new data from the B.C. government.
There were 245 new cases in Fraser Health (2,214 active) with 119 cases in Interior Health (850 active), 92 cases and one death in Island Health (640 active), 82 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health (721 active), and 67 new cases and three deaths in Northern Health (689 active).
No new cases were reported in people who live outside of Canada with 58 such cases active.
Active cases in the province are now at 5,172 (down 11 from Tuesday) with 374 contagious people in hospital (up by 17), 153 of those in ICU (no change).
The provincial COVID-19 death toll though is up to 2,033 people.
There are now 88.9 per cent of people over the age of 12 (4,120,063) who have at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 82.7 per cent (3,835,508) are fully vaccinated. That is an increase of 2,663 first doses and 5,445 second doses since Tuesday’s update.
Data from the province shows that between Oct. 5 and 11, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 68 per cent of all COVID cases – 2,571 or 61.1 per cent were not vaccinated while 291 or 6.9 per cent were partially vaccinated.
Between Sept. 28 to Oct. 11, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 73.4 per cent of hospitalizations.
