
B.C. is reporting 1,846 new cases of COVID-19 and 26 deaths this past weekend, including 322 cases and five deaths in Interior Health.
There were 753 new cases reported on Saturday, 650 on Sunday, and 443 on Monday – an average of 615 cases a day.
Fraser Health remains the hotspot for new cases with 737 reported over the weekend along with 10 deaths with 2,039 cases active. Elsewhere, there were 406 new cases and five deaths in Northern Health (880 active cases), 212 new cases and three deaths in Vancouver Coastal Health (642 active), and 169 new cases and three deaths in Island Health (521 active).
There were no new cases in people who live outside of of Canada with 58 such cases active while Interior Health has 777 active cases right now.
Active cases in B.C. have dropped under 5,000 for the first time since mid-August with 4,917 active cases as of Monday. Of that, there are 360 contagious people in hospital with COVID-19, 151 of those in intensive care. The COVID death toll meanwhile is up to 2,081 people.
As for vaccines, there are now 89.2 per cent of people over the age of 12 (4,133,755) who have gotten at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 83.4 per cent (3,865,096) are fully vaccinated.
Data from the government shows between Oct. 8 and 14, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 68.3 per cent of all cases – 2,420 or 61.8 per cent were not vaccinated while 255 or 6.5 per cent were partially vaccinated. Between Oct. 1 and 14, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 74.6 per cent of hospitalizations.
