A Kamloops man reported missing exactly one year ago has now been found dead in the South Thompson River.
Ryan Friesen was last seen at his home on Royal Avenue before being reported missing on Oct. 19, 2020.
Today, Kamloops RCMP say Friesen’s remains were found in the South Thompson River two months ago, on August 23. Those remains were confirmed to be Friesen last week, on Oct. 12, through DNA analysis.
Mounties say Friesen’s death is not suspicious. An exact cause of death is not yet known.
“Police have been in contact with Mr. Friesen’s family, who supported releasing his name publicly to update those who have been actively looking for him since his disappearance,” Const. Crystal Evelyn said.
Evelyn said the family has asked for privacy moving forward.
Friesen was 43 years old at the time he went missing last year.
