Kamloops RCMP say two people were arrested then released at the scene after officers were called to a weapons complaint this morning.
Spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn says police were called to a motel on the 1800-block of the East Trans Canada Highway in Valleyview around 11:20 a.m. after a dispute between two tenants ended with one of them producing a suspected weapon.
“Multiple officers attended in response to the elevated risk, and two people were arrested at scene,” she said. “Further investigation revealed what was produced was not a weapon, but a device similar to a homemade firework.”
Evelyn says both people were released at the scene.
