Police say a woman was seriously hurt in an accident on the Trans-Canada Highway in Savona Tuesday night.
Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP were called to the crash scene at 10:15 p.m. on the highway near Tunkwa Lake Road, where a small car and a semi-truck had collided.
Police say emergency crews had already pulled the driver out of the car when they arrived on scene. She was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Mounties say it’s believed the car going westbound had crossed the centre line and hit the semi-truck. The truck ended up in the ditch next to the eastbound lane.
The highway was down to a single lane while emergency crews were at the scene.
Further details on the accident remain unclear. It happened when there was a snowstorm on the Coquihalla which was closed throughout the evening.
Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is being asked to call Tk’emlúps RCMP at 250-314-1800.
