Kamloops RCMP say a man in his forties was hit and killed on the Trans-Canada Highway in Valleyview last night.

Mounties say an accident happened at about 9:30 p.m. in the 1700-block of the East Trans-Canada Highway, near Vicars Road.

The person killed was treated at the scene but passed away in hospital from his injuries.

Police say the incident is not believed to be criminal in nature.

Further details of a cause for the crash are not clear; rain was falling at the time and it was dark out when the accident happened.
