
Interior Health says a second COVID-19 outbreak at the Brocklehurst Gemstone long-term care home in Kamloops over.
The health authority says there were six cases connected to the outbreak – four residents and two staff. They say there were no deaths connected to this outbreak, which was declared just under three weeks ago, on Nov. 1.
It comes as the province announced 497 new COVID-198 and three more deaths in B.C., with 146 new cases in Interior Health – more than any other health authority.
Active cases in B.C. are up to 3,420, an increase of 75 from Thursday. In the Interior, it was an increase of 45 active cases to 657.
Provincewide, there are 358 contagious people in hospital (up by three) with 109 of those people in intensive care (down by one). The death toll in B.C. is at 2,293 people.
Meanwhile, the four concurrent outbreaks at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops is up to 56 cases and three deaths, an increase of two cases from Thursday.
New patient cases were reported on Unit 5 South, taking the total there to 29 cases – 21 patients and eight staff members – and two deaths, as well as on Unit 5 North where there are now 11 cases – six patients and five staff members.
There was no change reported at Unit 7 North, where there are still six cases – five patients and one staff members – with one death, and on Unit 6 South, which has 10 patient cases.
