With CP Rail set to reopen its track through the Fraser Canyon this afternoon, CN Rail now says it’s not far behind.
CN says it’s on pace to reopen its track between Kamloops and Vancouver early Wednesday morning with “limited traffic,” barring any setbacks.
It did not offer specifics for cleanup or repairs on its line, but says “work progressed well over the weekend” to fix sections of its track.
Both CN and CP Rail have not been running trains through the Fraser Canyon since Nov. 14, following heavy rainfall that has caused severe flooding and washouts in parts of southern B.C. CP Rail, however, will resume operations starting this afternoon.
Meanwhile, following flood warnings on the North Coast of B.C. after heavy weekend rain, CN Rail says the Port of Prince Rupert remains open and there have been no adverse impacts from that weather event.
