Kamloops Mom, Sue Simpson, is asking people to spread some joy and send Christmas cards to her son, Jessie Simpson, who had his life completely changed in June 2016.
Jessie Simpson, now 23 years old, went through an experience that would alter his way of living forever. At just 18 years old, Simpson was attacked by Kristopher Teichrieb with a metal baseball bat and his fists, after losing his friends and wandering onto Teichriebs property late one evening.
Teichriebs reaction resulted in Simpson being put in a coma for 11 months, and facing multiple life altering injuries. Including losing his ability to ever walk again.
Teichrieb pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in 2018 and was sentenced to seven years in prison. He has been living in a halfway house since his statutory release in April.
The local Mom wants her son to enjoy the holidays, despite the hardships he has faced. “We usually have a big Christmas party for Jessie and we invite people in the community who have helped us. But because of COVID, we can’t do that and it’s just really hard on him right now”, she says.
“He’s a really strong boy. He’s gone through so much and he’s fought on. He loves people and he’s a very big people person,” Sue Simpson said.
The holidays are a special time of the year, and this is one way the community can make this season even more special for the Simpson family.
Jessie Simspon loves to read, which is why his mother is requesting people send Christmas cards this season.
Cards for Jessie can be sent to P.O. Box 233 Savona, B.C. V0K 2J0 .
