
Kamloops RCMP say a man is in custody after a truck that was allegedly stolen during a home invasion on the North Shore earlier his week was recovered in the Valleyview area.
On Dec. 13, 2021 at around 7:40 p.m., police say they were called to the 100-block of Yew Street after a man was allegedly forcibly confined in his home, while two men and a woman stole numerous items, including his truck. Police say they gathered evidence from the scene as part of the ongoing investigation.
Two days later, on Dec. 15, at around 10:55 p.m., RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn says an officer was patrolling the 1700-block of the East Trans Canada Highway, when he saw a truck in a motel parking lot that matched the description of the stolen vehicle.
“As part of the investigation that commenced, a man and a woman were located inside the vehicle, along with weapons,” she said, in a statement.
A 31-year-old Kelowna man, Kevin James Beattie, is now charged with possession of stolen property in excess value of $5,000; operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited; and possess a firearm, cross-bow, prohibited weapon, restricted weapon, prohibited device, brass knuckles, while he was prohibited from doing so.
Beattie was scheduled to have a court appearance Thursday, Dec. 16.
