Kamloops RCMP are looking for witnesses and surveillance footage after an employee of a North Shore business was allegedly bear-sprayed during an attempted robbery yesterday afternoon, Dec. 20.
In a statement, spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn says police were called to a business on the 400-block of Tranquille Road around 3:18 p.m., adding there was also a fight between the suspect and an employee who tried to stop him from stealing merchandise.
The suspect, police say, fled on foot through an alley between Yew Street and Tranquille Road, though it is not known what, if anything was stolen.
“Officers patrolled the area with the assistance of the Police Dog Service Unit, but were unable to locate the suspect,” Evelyn said.
The suspect is described as an Indigenous man who was wearing a maroon and gold hoody, black pants, and maroon and gold face mask at the time.
If you witnessed the incident, or if you have surveillance or dash cam footage, you’re asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2021-44254.
