The final two nights of Operation Red Nose in Kamloops have been cancelled because of the additional public health orders in B.C. that come into effect Thursday morning, Dec. 23.
Those restrictions require bars to close while “organized indoor gatherings” like holiday parties on New Years Eve have also been put on ice.
Operation Red Nose Kamloops Coordinator Elsa Poppleton says it means the safe ride home service will not be operating on Thursday, Dec. 30, or on Friday, Dec. 31.
“We are grateful to have been able to provide our service in Kamloops this holiday season,” she said. “Operation Red Nose operated successfully for 11 nights to ensure citizens in our community arrived home safely. We are proud to say we provided 339 safe rides home over the 11 nights of service in Kamloops.”
“We would like to recognize all the volunteers that dedicated many evenings to Operation Red Nose. Your support helped ensure everyone arrived home safely after celebrating another year around the sun.”
All of the money raised by donations goes to PacificSport Interior BC, to benefit amateur athletes in the area.
