Kamloops RCMP are looking for suspects after an off-duty officer was t-boned by a stolen vehicle on St. Paul Street and 7th Avenue this morning.
In a statement, RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn says the officer was on their way home from work around 5:15 a.m., when their personal vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by a stolen red Jeep Compass that ran a southbound stop sign.
She says three men then fled on foot, heading east on St. Paul Street. They were all were wearing dark clothing, though one had a backpack and another, a hunchback.
“The off-duty officer was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is thankfully expected to fully recover in time,” Evelyn noted.
The suspects were tracked to the 700-block of Battle Street, but police were not able to find them, she said. They however did seize some evidence, with Evelyn saying police are still canvassing the area for video surveillance and witnesses.
Police also note the red jeep that the men were in was stolen from a motel on the 1700-block of the East Trans Canada Highway, around 6 a.m. the day before, Jan. 4.
