A 21-year-old man is facing several charges after several radios and chargers, a Forward Looking InfraRed (FLIR) Camera, and firefighting gear was stolen from the fire station in Dallas this week.
Kamloops RCMP say they were called to the fire station on Dallas Drive around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, in response to an overnight break in.
“As part of the investigation, police identified and arrested a suspect shortly after at a nearby residence,” spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn said. “The stolen property was recovered and returned to the fire department.”
Shane Lee McLeod, 21, has been charged with break and enter and theft; theft over $5,000; and possession of stolen property related to the investigation at the fire hall.
“The same suspect had also been identified in a Kamloops uttering threats investigation reported around 1:15 a.m. the same day,” Evelyn added. “While in custody for the break in, he was also arrested and charged for that alleged offence.”
McLeod remains in custody, awaiting a court appearance scheduled for later today, Jan. 13.
If you have information relating to either incident, Evelyn says to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-1170 for the fire hall break and enter or 2022-1127 for the uttering threats investigation.
