
A Kamloops woman has been charged after RCMP responded to reports of a woman screaming for help at an address in Lower Sahali.
Const. Crystal Evelyn says police were called to the undisclosed address around 8:35 a.m. last Friday, Jan. 14. In a statement, she says a woman who had “obvious injuries” was screaming for someone to call police.
“A suspect known to the victim was arrested nearby as part of the investigation,” she said, noting names have not been released to protect the identity of the victim.
Evelyn says the suspect was charged with forcible confinement, assault causing bodily harm, and sexual assault. She was held in custody over the weekend and released on Monday, Jan. 17, with conditions and a court date.
