Kamloops RCMP say it has recovered 21 Chromebook laptops that were stolen in two separate break-ins at Parkcrest Elementary at George Hilliard earlier this month.
The school on Holt Street was targeted on two separate instances – first on Jan. 3, and again on Jan. 11. In all, RCMP spokesperson, Const. Crystal Evelyn, says 54 Chromebooks were stolen along with six iPads, a camcorder, and other electronics.
She says an officer on patrol last Friday, Jan. 21, was told where he could find some of the Chromebooks. The officer, Evelyn said, found a plastic bin with 21 of the computers in a parking lot on the North Shore.
“Obviously, whoever broke in and stole from a school knew they were stealing from kids,” Evelyn added.
Earlier this month, Evelyn said if anyone knows of someone who “suddenly” happened to have a Chromebook with them or is selling one second hand, to contact RCMP so they can make sure it is not one of the stolen laptops.
“It is important that anyone who knows who has the outstanding items or who is responsible for the break-ins does the right thing and contacts police as soon as possible,” she added.
If you have any information related to this investigation, Evelyn says to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-431 or 2022-1025.
