While Kamloops firefighters have been impacted by the Omicron variant of COVID-19, there hasn’t been any significant impact to operations.
That is according to Fire Chief Steve Robinson, who tells NL News the number of firefighters impacted at any one time keeps changing.
“We might have two off or three off and then back to nobody off,” he said. “We are fortunate that a great number of our firefighters are vaccinated, so I think that is really helping us.”
“We are managing to keep all of our resources rolling and we do have plans should Omicron impact us more, but right now we are managing and we are keeping everything moving and providing the best service we can to the city.”
He did not divulge details about the plans and what would happen if a large number of firefighters are off sick.
“We haven’t had to enact that yet, and knock on wood, we won’t,” Robinson added.
