
The third COVID-19 outbreak at the Brocklehurst Gemstone Care Centre has been declared over.
Interior Health says there were four total cases – two staff and two residents – connected to this outbreak, which was declared two weeks ago, on January 12. No deaths were reported, the health authority said, in an email to NL News.
The first outbreak at the care home was declared a year ago today, Jan. 13, 2021. It was declared over on Mar. 12, 2021 with 32 cases connected – 24 among residents and eight among staff – along with two deaths.
A second outbreak with six total cases – four residents and two staff – was declared on Nov. 1, 2021. It was declared over about three weeks later with no deaths connected.
Another COVID-19 outbreak at the Pine Grove Care Centre in Kamloops remains active with nine total cases – six staff and three residents.
There is also one death connected to this outbreak, which was declared on Jan. 19.
