Kamloops RCMP say one man was arrested after multiple officers responded to a report of a possible stabbing on Victoria Street last night.
Const. Crystal Evelyn says police were called to the 200-block of Victoria Street West around 8:10 p.m. after two to three people were reported to be fighting. She says the caller told police that they could see knives and blood.
While she did not disclose the exact address, the incident is believed to have taken place at the Emerald Centre located at 271 Victoria Street West.
Evelyn says while RCMP were able to identify a suspect, the man did not cooperate with police and fled the scene.
“Based on the risk assessment of a weapon being involved and the suspect failing to comply with repeated police officer commands, the officers deployed [pepper] spray and a conductive energy device [a taser], but both were unsuccessful,” she said.
“Eventually, police were able to apprehend the suspect, seize a box cutter, and transport him to cells.”
Evelyn says another man who was involved in the confrontation had non-life threatening injuries, but he too did not cooperate with police. She says both men were known to each other.
