The 25th edition of the Kamloops Film Festival is set to get underway in exactly one month.
Kamloops Film Society Executive Director, Dusan Magdolen, says the goal is to return to an in-person event at the Paramount Theatre.
“Obviously last year was a pivoted festival later in the year and at the drive in and online, but this year, the hope is in-person, as safe as possible,” he said. “My guess is we’re still going to be under the 50 per cent reduction but we’re going to find creative ways to connect people.”
Barring any sudden changes to COVID-19 restrictions, the 2022 Kamloops Film Festival is set to take place between March 3 and 12.
“We haven’t done a sort of true announcement yet but the hope is later this week. The dates have been kind of out there a little bit,” Magdolen said. “Again, it is not a secret. And also anybody that has been going to the festival for years, with the exception of last year, it always happens at the same time.”
As for this year’s lineup?
“We do have quite a bit of sort of local, I mean not necessarily from Kamloops but films from BC and even from Canada and that sort of thing, and obviously some bigger hits that we’re trying to get from around the world.”
