The Mayor of Clearwater says he will be asking the Thompson Nicola Regional District board to issue a formal public apology to all current and former staff at the regional district.
Merlin Blackwell also says he feels the current board needs to unconditionally apologize to all TNRD residents.
His comments on twitter this morning came about two months after a forensic audit into past spending under former CAO Sukh Gill found an inappropriate culture of spending.
Blackwell says the spending scandal happened under the watch of current and previous boards, noting the board is responsible for everything the CAO does.
TNRD directors Steven Rice and Sally Watson have both called on Ken Gillis to resign as board chair noting that will help the regional district move forward as it tries to regain the trust of residents and taxpayers.
