The City of Kamloops is setting up two new satellite officers for Community Services Officers – one downtown and other in the Tranquille corridor.
Community Services Manager, Tammy Blundell, tells NL News they will be moving into the old CAP team office at 340 Victoria Street downtown, and to a yet to be determined location on the North Shore.
“It just comes down to exposing the CSOs into both those locations,” she said. “We want to be able to start our joint patrols out of those offices, and having that CSO presence in both those locations along those corridors and interfacing with the business sector as well.”
“Both locations are there so that we can have more presence on those two corridors. We’ve been listening to both BIAs and we’re trying to come to different solutions to fill part of the puzzle and part of those gaps.”
She says the two satellite offices will also be available to support RCMP officers, security guards, and outreach workers, as needed.
“They’ll be able to be accessed by our officers 24/7,” Blundell said. “We will be putting signage at these locations so they’ll be well known to all of the businesses and anybody, if there is an officer in there and there is information that somebody wants, we want that to be kind of the go-to.”
Blundell says the goal is to have these satellite offices ready over the next three to four months.
