Interior Health has issued another drug alert alert in the Kamloops area, warning about a pink or purple substance being sold as Down.
It says several samples were tested and found to contain a benzo-like substance as well as up to five times the amount of fentanyl typically found in substances sold as ‘Down.’
“There is a high risk of overdose,” Interior Health said. “No matter what or how you use (smoking, snorting, injecting) take steps to prevent overdose.”
Those steps include getting your drugs checked, to use around others or at an overdose prevention site, and start by using a small amount.
The drug alert is in effect until Feb. 22.
