UPDATE – This morning’s house fire in a Westmount mobile home park appears to have been intentionally set.
Julie Dodds posted photos and video of the alleged arsonist to facebook, saying there was significant damage to her mother’s house in the Warren Mobile Home Park along Westsyde Road.
“They’ve lost everything, including their cat Leeloo,” Julie said. “A house fire is traumatizing, devastating and horrible all in its own. But that someone chooses to do that to you is even worse.”
The video she posted shows a man in a hoodie and mask approach the house before pouring something onto a pile outside, and riding away after it caught fire.
“Please look closely and if you have any information on who this is please call the police or let us know somehow,” Julie added. “The links are the video footage of him actually spraying an accelerant and setting a fire.”
Kamloops Fire Platoon Captain Darrell Cooper says investigators are still on scene.
“There is strong evidence that it was arson but we’ll be investigating,” he told NL News. “I am told that there is video of it and it is pretty definitive what was going on but the investigators haven’t put out their report yet, so we’re waiting on them.”
Kamloops RCMP Const. Crystal Evelyn says the RCMP’s fire investigator and a forensic identification team are also investigating this suspicious fire.
“Every investigation is different. It just depends how many witnesses there are, what the scene entails and that sort of thing,” Evelyn said. “Now if it turns out that once they’re back, and if we have more information and we have an image or something that we can release to help further the investigating.”
Evelyn says anyone who has information, photos or video of the fire or the suspect, should reach out to Kamloops RCMP.
“Any time we are investigating something we do rely on the public to help us further the investigation by sharing any information that is relevant that they might have,” she said.
