Kamloops residents may see Canadian Army armoured vehicles training in the Lac Du Bois area starting tomorrow until Sunday, March 4 to 6.
Captain Graeme Kaine, a Public Affairs Officer with the 39 Canadian Brigade Group, says about 50 Reserve personnel from The British Columbia Regiment will be taking part in mounted reconnaissance driver training.
He says members of the Army Reserve in British Columbia train during the evenings and on weekends while serving as a part-time component of the Canadian Armed Forces.
“Nearby residents can expect to hear occasional noise from the firing of blank ammunition,” Kaine said, in a statement, noting there will be increased traffic in the Lac Du Bois Off-Road Vehicle area.
“There will be up to 10 Mercedes G-Wagons participating in the tactical portion of the exercise, and additional support vehicles.”
Kaine says the training exercise will take place throughout the day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
“This important training is being conducted in order to maintain and further develop the skills of Canadian Army Reserve soldiers in Armoured Reconnaissance operations, and to practice discipline, safety and effectiveness while operating specific vehicle platforms within the local areas,” Kaine added.
“All measures are being taken to ensure minimum inconvenience to those in the area. Residents are asked to take extra caution when approaching military vehicles and are thanked in advance for their understanding and co-operation.”
