While COVID-19 capacity restrictions have been eased, the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra will remain at reduced capacity for the rest of the 2021-22 season.
Executive Director Daniel Mills tells NL News that he hopes it will help people feel safe during the four remaining performances at the Sagebrush Theatre.
“When patrons buy tickets, there is an automatic space set beside groups of tickets together. And that is just to ensure people’s comfort and they can come back safely, if they haven’t already done so,” he said.
“Of course, masks will still be mandatory for the time-being and there is still the vaccination check in place. Otherwise, it will look quite similar to what people are used to as we finish out the season.”
Mills tells NL News he is hoping that the upcoming 2022-23 season of the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra will be able to go ahead without any of those pandemic restrictions in place.
“Of course, we have learned a lot in this process and we’ll be integrating aspects from what we’ve learned from our digital means and other places to mix it up a little bit but in lots of ways, we do expect a season that looks somewhat similar to what we used to do,” he added.
Next up for the KSO is the The Essence of Mahler on Mar. 12 and 13, followed by Luminous Voices on Apr. 16, iskwē & the KSO, on Apr. 21, and Beethoven & Tabla on Apr. 23.
All four of those performances will have guest conductors, as KSO Music Director, Dina Gilbert, is taking some time away after she was diagnosed with cancer.
