The RCMP Major Crime Unit is investigating a homicide in Lillooet.
RCMP in Lillooet say they and Statlimx Tribal Police were called to the 600-block of Main Street on Tuesday evening, March 15, where they found a man with serious injuries who was being treated by BC Ambulance. They say he was taken to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
RCMP Const. Andrew Hodges says next of kin have been notified, however the victim’s name is not being released at this time.
“So far this investigation leads us to believe this was an isolated incident with no elevated risk to the public,” Hodges said. “The RCMP would like to extend their thoughts to the victim’s family, and friends.”
Hodges says Major Crime Unit officers will be in the area gathering evidence over the upcoming days.
