Mounties in Kamloops have released a picture of a van linked to a suspicious death in Dufferin in an appeal for any potential witnesses to come forward.

Police were called to the 1600-block of Monterey Place around 10 p.m. Thursday, March 17, where they say they found a person dead inside a vehicle.

No information about the victim has been released as police say they are waiting for the results of an autopsy to confirm both identity and the cause of death.

The van in question is a white 2020 GMC with BC licence plate PJ 9131. It has a ‘Budget’ rental decal on the driver side door as well as ‘Devon Transport Ltd. It also has a graphic that says “we sell boxes” on the side.

RCMP are asking anyone who might have seen the van in Kamloops or in surrounding rural areas and communities, including Barriere, Clearwater, Valemount, Savona, Cache Creek, to come forward.

“We are asking the public for assistance in helping us establish the vehicle’s movements during this past week,” Staff Sgt. Todd Wiebe, of the Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit said, in a statement.

“Please have a look at the van and its license plate. If you think you saw it or if you have dash cam or surveillance footage capturing it, please contact police as soon as possible.”

The RCMP’s General Investigation Service Team, Forensic Identification Service, Police Dog Service, and frontline officers are investigating, as is the BC Coroners Service.
