Cirque du Soleil will be bringing six performances of its “high-energy and high-acrobatic production” OVO to the Sandman Centre in Kamloops this June.
Dubbed as a “colorful intrusion into a new day in the life of insects and a non-stop riot of energy and movement,” a media release says people will be thrilled to “show-stopping acrobatics” that are meant to highlight the unique personalities and abilities of selected insect species.
“Funny and chaotic, yet adorable and wonderful, OVO charms our inner child with its sweet exuberance,” the release added. “OVO (“egg” in Portuguese) brings to the stage high-level acrobatic acts redefining the limits of the human body.
“From mighty crickets bouncing off trampolines to a hypnotic spider contorting inside her web, OVO exudes extraordinary showmanship to tickle the imagination.”
The six Kamloops shows will take place between June 23 and 26, two weeks after a seven-show run between June 9 and 12 at Prospera Place in Kelowna.
Since its opening in Montreal in 2009, OVO – which is comprised of 100 people from 25 different countries, including 52 artists – has thrilled more than seven million people in 155 cities across 26 different countries.
Tickets are currently available online to Club Cirque members. It will go on sale to the general public next Monday, April 4.
A previous performance of the Cirque du Soleil AXEL circus show in Kamloops scheduled for June 18 to 21, 2020 at Sandman Centre was cancelled due to COVID-19.
