Police and the BC Coroners Service are investigating after a person was found dead in the North Thompson River this afternoon.
Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet says police were called to the 4300-block of Westsyde Road around 12:30 p.m. to reports of a body floating in the river.
“An officer from the RCMP Dive Team has been deployed to assist in recovering the decedent, whose gender can not yet be determined,” she said.
“At this point it is too early to determine the nature of the incident, or whether criminality is suspected in the person’s death.”
