Adams Lake (Go Camping BC)
Welcome news for boaters who want to head out on Adams Lake this summer.
The Thompson Nicola Regional District says the boat launch at Agate Bay, on the west side of the lake, has now been fully repaired.
Jamie Vieira, Deputy GM of Operations for the TNRD, says the concrete slabs at that held together that boat launch were the problem.
“Those who have used it the last few years will probably remember a bit of a rough ride, and even the potential for causing damage using that launch because of the gaps between the concrete slabs,” said Vieira. “So we’re happy to report that work has now been completed.”
The final three rows of the boat launch ramp were temporarily lifted out of the way and a base of clean, crushed rock was installed where the concrete slabs were located, according to the regional district. It says the concrete slabs were then replaced and reattached on top of the rock fill.
“Repair work was done on March 21, 2022, when Adams Lake was near its lowest level to facilitate the work. An environmental assessment that was conducted in December of 2021 determined that there was no potential for fish spawning activity in the vicinity of the boat launch,” said the TNRD in a release.
The boat launch on Agate Bay Road is one of the most widely used on Adams Lake.
