Kamloops RCMP say two Valleyview schools were put on a brief hold and secure Friday because of a weapons complaint.
In a statement, Cpl. Dana Napier says police officers and the dog team responded to the area, noting they recommended putting both Valleyview Secondary and Marion Schilling elementary on hold and secure as a precaution.
“There was no direct threat to either of the schools and the suspect was located and arrested,” Napier said.
“The Kamloops RCMP would like to thank School District 73, students, and parents for their understanding during the brief hold and secure.”
While School District 73 did not publicly announce the hold and secure notices, the Valleyview Secondary website notifies visitors that the hold and secure, which began at noon was lifted at 12:15 p.m.
