RCMP in Ashcroft are asking for help as they investigate the Juniper Knoll wildfire that broke out by the side of the Trans Canada Highway this week.
They’re asking anyone with dashcam footage on Highway 1 between Walhachin and Cache Creek from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. this past Tuesday, May 17, to reach out.
“The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, ” Cpl. Lloyd Pinsent of the Ashcroft RCMP said. “We need to speak with anyone who was driving in the area that has dashcam footage to help further the investigation.”
The BC Wildfire Service has said the three-hectare blaze is suspected to be human-caused. A total of ten wildfire personnel were on scene overnight Tuesday.
If you have any information or dashcam footage, you’re asked to contact the Ashcroft RCMP at 250-453-2216, or Crime Stoppers.
